If you are planning to conduct business across state/country lines, however, then it's a good idea to get verified as soon as possible. Verify by April 3rd and avoid being locked out! You can always unverify later if you decide that it isn't necessary for your purposes.

How to Complete the GMB Verification Process

Verifying your Google My Business listing is an easy and free way to claim ownership of your online presence. Google My Business, formerly known as Google Places, is a great place to start when it comes to boosting your online exposure. You’ll want to start by logging into your GMB dashboard (linked in step 1). Next, click on More under Own This Business? and select Get Verified for Free.
