The Columbus Telegram
I’ve never been a big fan of Columbus, Ohio. To me, it just seemed like a boring Midwestern city. However, over the last couple of years I’ve visited friends there on numerous occasions and have found that Columbus is actually quite cool—especially if you’re into art, great food and microbrews. If you aren’t from Ohio or live in southern California or somewhere else with unlimited craft beer options, Columbus might be your ideal spot to move (hey people from Pittsburgh!) because it has plenty of great local breweries for beer geeks like me (Dogfish Head! Rhinegeist! Zaftig!). The word Columbus doesn't often get mentioned when people talk about cool cities, but they should.
Here’s my advice to you. If you live in Ohio or are planning a visit, try not to spend too much time in Cleveland and Cincinnati. Those places have their own culture and they're cool cities with interesting things to do and see, but if you really want a great experience, head north to Columbus. I can’t guarantee that it will change your opinion about Ohio—after all it's not on par with New York City or Paris—but I can promise that it will be a memorable visit.
